Third Quarter
One of the most important projects we have to complete this Quarter is the "Alumnae Reunion Movie." This year the reunion is scheduled for Saturday, March 10th, 2012 and the years celebrated are the ones ending in "2" and "7" (1947, 1952, 1957, etc.) We have to take in consideration that we're having our "Winter Break" in February (No Classes from 2/16/12 to 2/20/12). Kairos XXIII will take place from 3/6/12 - 3/9/12. I need your cooperation to make this happen! Sister Carla has entrusted us with this assignment and we cannot let her down, nor let the Alumnae and the Sisters of Saint Basil down. So let's take it seriously please! The movies must be completed preferably before Kairos (if not possible, the latest date is March 7th, 2012). I need to edit them and assemble them as one.
The idea is to create a short movie (3 - 4 minutes long) with the scanned pictures of the years you were assigned. The movie will have a "Title Slide." The "Title Slide" will be the first slide on your movie - and you will add a title (moving title of your choice), e.g. "The 70's." The Title Slide should be a collage of images representing the years you chose (or were given). You can create this slide using Photoshop (Size: 10" W x 8" H). Pay attention to the timings on your slides (clips), you don't want them to move too fast or too slow. The transitions must also have the right time (not too fast, not too slow).
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask Mrs. Feld. You will also add music of your choice (appropriate music). You can find many titles in the Server (iLife06 > Music) or ask Mrs. Feld to bring you some specific songs of the years you were assigned (e.g. music of the 80's for the 80's movie, etc.).
We will scan pictures of former SBA students from the years ending in "2" and "7." One group will have the "Early Years" - we will scan pictures from the 30's and 40's (selecting the ones Mrs. Bilotta marked and others). This group will also take care of the "50's" too. Depending on the size of the class, some groups will have 3 students and some groups will have two. When completed, the group movies will be converted to a Full Quality QuickTime movie (best quality) and Mrs. Feld will assemble them to create the Final Movie.
You must be very organized when scanning your images. Please create folders for each year and save in your DigitalApps Folder. I also need you to enhance some of these images (fix the Brightness & Contrast of the images, or use the Stamp Tool to fix some imperfections). Color pictures MUST NOT have red eyes, you can easily fix this using Photoshop. Some images may be cropped, or you can create collages of a group of pictures. You can also add titles and text throughout. Also, add quotes from the yearbooks of your years in your iMovies. Get creative!
This project will be the biggest grade this quarter, so I will take in consideration the work you do, your interest, your dedication and care. Delegate responsibilities carefully between your group members and accept responsibility for your final product. Thanks for your understanding!
Photoshop Exercises: you will also complete a few Photoshop Exercises (1. Like Magritte Exercise - you already created one or two of these, but I need you to create a few more. These are very creative exercises and are important (they look great in the Digital Art Exhibit - the Art Exhibit will take place May 2nd). Get ideas by looking at Magritte's paintings and ask Mrs. Feld for help. 2. Magazine Cover - this exercise was due January 26, 2012. I hope I can find it in the Server under your new folder "3rd Quarter" or "DA-3rd Quarter" (or a similar title). We will also do a few textbook exercises.
